Day One... Repeated from Facebook Thread

I actually made it... can you believe it? It is currently 4:20am and I really hate being jetlagged. So rather than try to sleep I decided I would just send you all a message to let you know what went on during my first evening abroad...

Well the flight was pretty much as awful as it could get. Took 2 advil pm and that didnt help me out was squished into the smallest seat ive ever seen and of course i got stuck next to a fat woman... only to me right? So that sucked, and when I got to London I was so overwhelmed by the airport. Every woman was dressed their best and I was in a black track suit with no makeup on... Im an American shleper (spelling?), what can I say? The next flight was so much better... I had just finished off the most amazing bloody mary I have ever had in my life and fell asleep for the whole 2 hour flight to DK. When I woke up, I had been nicely tucked in by a very sweet and gay man that offered me the open row when he saw what I looked like when I got on the plane... I am sure I was a sight, but I chose to avoid mirrors! When I looked out the window we were going through a sheet of white clouds that were just so thick it was like the plane was drowning... not to mention the turbulence. So I knew I was in Denmark... Got of the plane and walked through an outdoor walkway to get to the baggage claim and boy was it cold and really windy. But I just ran grabbed my luggage and met Inger (Signes mom) outside. We drove about half an hour to Roskilde, which is the old capital of Denmark. The kings and queens used to live here and they are all buried here in a Cathedral. Due to the fact that it was 5pm and pitch black, we went straight to her little home in a "senior" community... its not a retirement community, but you have to be 45 or older to live there.
Her home is very small, but still too big for just 1 person, so myself and my 2 enormous suitcases made it just the perfect size. So after I got settled and was ready to just crash, Inger opened up a bottle of wine and made a delicious danish dinner... I have no idea what it is called, but we had some kind of soup and the main course was a puff pastry filled with ham, cream cheese, mushrooms, onions, etc... it was awesome! Once dinner was over we sat and talked for a while and I got ready for bed. Although it is just the first day, and the weather is cold, Denmark already has its beautiful features. I am sitting by a window now and the stars here are just amazing.
Well as it is now 4:40, I should probably attempt sleep once again. I would have just posted on a blog that I am hoping to start, but when I went to the website everything was in Danish and the only thing I could understand was the word BLOG.. So I will just have to work on that when I get settled in my new home. I go to the school tomorrow around 2pm and will meet my roommate and officially move in!
Hope everyone is having a good weekend and I will send a note when something exciting happens.
Love you all...
Talk to you soon!
